Education Healthcare Assistant

Salary - Full Time: £27,803 - £30,296. Actual Salary: £20,979 - £22,860

Start Date – September 2024

Contract: Fixed Term (It is anticipated that this contract will last for two years until August 2026)

Term Time Only (39 weeks). Part-time: 32.5 hours 8.30 – 3.30 daily (30-min lunch break)

Are you passionate about every child’s learning and believe in enabling an inclusive environment for the benefit of all children?  In joining our friendly and supportive team at Court Lane Academies, part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust, you will work to provide support to an individual pupil with complex medical, learning, communication and emotional needs, to enable them to achieve to the best of their ability.

At Court Lane Junior, we know the success of our children is due to the commitment of our staff and believe in providing staff with opportunities for development. This role requires the successful completion of a paid Health induction training programme and ongoing guidance to ensure competency in managing the health needs of a child, e.g. tracheotomy and tube feeding.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience of supporting children with complex medical needs.
  • Have a working knowledge of medical procedures in supporting individuals with complex needs and be willing to complete medical training, including theory and up to at least 4 weeks of practical training.
  • Be an enthusiastic and dynamic individual, preferably with experience of working with children with additional medical needs. 
  • Ideally, have experience of using Makaton and communication systems.
  • Have evidence of establishing and maintaining positive relationships when supporting an individual or groups in different settings that encourages pupils to progress.
  • Have a flexible, reliable and enthusiastic approach.
  • Be committed to developing effective working relationships with children, parents, staff and other professionals, to enable the very best support for children’s learning and development, whilst promoting excellent behaviour and high standards.
