The Academy Trust was a principal exhibitor at the University of Chichester’s Teaching Fair at the Bognor Regis campus on Friday 30th October, a very successful event attended by almost 200 student teachers looking for careers advice and information.

Trust HR Manager Louise Birch and HR Generalist Debbie Wills discussed opportunities within our family of academies with the students, many of whom registered to receive details of future vacancies.

Principal of Mill Chase Academy, Mr Paul Hemmings, was guest speaker at the Teaching Fair and shared his career journey in “A Head’s Perspective on Recruitment and Career Progression”.

Mr Hemmings, who was appointed to his first leadership role only three years after qualifying as a Business Studies and Economics teacher, became a Deputy Headteacher aged 32 and was appointed just seven years later to lead MCA, the University of Chichester Academy Trust’s first secondary academy. Students were fascinated and inspired by his achievements and his conviction that the early stages are of key importance to graduates shaping a teaching career.
