On 17th January, the University of Chichester Academy Trust organised a Networking and Training Conference for members of the Local Governing Bodies of the Trust’s academies. The Trust’s Chief Executive Sue Samson welcomed Governors to the event which was held at the University’s Bishop Otter Campus in Chichester.
During the morning, there were presentations on: the Academy Programme and the vision of the Trust (Sue Samson, Chief Executive Officer); the Trust’s governance model and what responsibilities were delegated to Local Governing Bodies (Helen Turner, Director of Financial and Commercial Services); and Ofsted’s expectations of Local Governing Bodies (Verona Hall, CAT Governance Lead). Participants engaged in table discussions and questions, before attendees regrouped in their academy groups to plan their next steps and identify support needs.
Sue Samson said, ‘It was a highly successful morning and demonstrated the high level of skills and commitment we have in our Local Governing Bodies. As well as discussing the way we work together and considering ideas for future joint activity, our Governors found it useful to meet and exchange ideas. Their feedback will inform the Trust’s future support programme.’
