PUPIL SUPPORT WORKER — Alternative Provision
The Flying Bull Academy
Permanent, 37 hours per week / Term time only (39 weeks)
Salary: Trust Grade 5 £23,541 — £25,991 per annum pro rata
Actual Salary: £20,222 — £22,327 per annum

The Flying Bull Academy is an academy in the heart of Portsmouth, proud of our caring ethos and striving to support our children to achieve their full potential.
We are looking for a new Pupil Support Worker to join our dedicated and successful team, working together to support children, aged between 5 and 9, with complex needs including social, emotional and mental health.

You will be a person who understands the importance of trusting relationships when supporting vulnerable children who may have been through considerable trauma. You will use PACE (playful, acceptance, curiosity and empathy) to engage with children to help them feel safe and accepted so that they can then be ready for learning. You will have a calm and positive approach, creating a purposeful environment for learning. Working as part of a team to engage and support pupils, you will have the experience and resilience to help them overcome their own personal barriers in order to achieve their individual potential.

You will have experience of working with children who have complex and diverse needs; this may also include intimate care. With strong interpersonal and communication skills, working closely with parents and carers and wider professional organisations, you will be organised and efficient and able to take part in meetings and deal effectively and sensitively with complex matters.
The Flying Bull Academy is part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust, which will bring you added benefits and opportunities. You will find that each of our Academies has a unique identity, but a shared belief in creating a positive and enriching environment, where all staff feel valued.
